Bitcoin's record surge is similar to its historic surge in 2021

The recent rise in Bitcoin (BTC) price resembles the all-time high of the coin's historic uptrend in 2021. According to a Bloomberg report, recent robust activity in the Bitcoin market has created an upzone reminiscent of Bitcoin's two-year-old status of constant advancement. Bitcoin price is now making progress towards a new all-time high.

BTC’s price rise is similar to the bullish phase of 2021

As for the current state of the BTC market, the cost of perpetual futures trades and options open interest suggest a revival of speculative enthusiasm for Bitcoin. Despite FTX's bankruptcy and massive decline in 2022, Bitcoin saw massive growth and recorded a price more than double this year compared to the extreme crash in 2022.

One of the main reasons for the constantly rising prices is the pending ETF approval. Although there were delays in the approval of the Bitcoin spot ETF by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the consideration for several weeks was enough for market traders to invest in Bitcoin for both institutional and retail investors.

Additionally, a spokesperson for Deribit, the largest crypto options exchange, expressed his point of view, saying that the notional value of open positions for Bitcoin options on the platform reached a record value of around $14.9 billion earlier this week. The new high price broke the 2021 record of $14.4 billion. According to Deribit, bullish options are betting that Bitcoin will reach $40,000 or even $45,000 by the end of December.

Caroline Mauron, another crypto expert and co-founder of digital asset derivatives liquidity provider Orbit Markets, said crypto calls have been in demand for several weeks.

BTC's financial revolution and key future trends

Bitcoin is currently leading the financial trend in the cryptocurrency sector and is an inevitable trading option due to its constant market boom, impact on crypto enthusiasts, and demand. BTC’s potential growth and interest in diversity in the crypto world is helping to shape a new era of crypto finance.

While the expectation of ETF approval was a sufficient reason to lead the market despite price fluctuations, another reason is the eternal future of the coin, which keeps engagement and trading constant. Exchanges reportedly use the so-called funding rate to adjust contracts to the underlying spot price. During bullish phases, the rate tends to be positive, indicating that traders are betting on profits.

Last week, the perpetual futures BTC observed were last seen before the 2022 crash, during the era of its all-time high in 2021.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin price hit $44,000 this week. Research from Matrixport in October accurately predicted that BTC price would reach $45,000 in December. Now the market is waiting to see whether the price will reach $125,000 after the Bitcoin halving as predicted by Matrixport.
