Bitcoin price will hit $150,000 in 12 months, says Tom Lee

In a recent interview on CNBC Squawk Box, Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee made bold predictions about Bitcoin price, stating that he believes the cryptocurrency could reach $150,000 within the next 12 months.

Tom Lee's Bitcoin price prediction

Lee attributed this potential rise in Bitcoin price to increasing demand, especially if the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) were to approve a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF). He further extended his forecast to a five-year period, stating that reaching around half a million dollars was “definitely achievable.”

Several recent fundamentals support Tom Lee's optimistic forecast for Bitcoin price development. First of all, the growing involvement of institutional investors in the Bitcoin market is seen as a positive development. Institutional adoption increases legitimacy and attracts large investments, thereby increasing demand and price.

Anthony Scaramucci, a well-known crypto figure, predicts that the value of Bitcoin will reach $330,000, citing an influx of large investments. Samson Mow echoed a similar sentiment on January 3, anticipating a $1 million increase due to limited BTC availability and large institutional investments.

Additionally, Bitcoin's upcoming halving, scheduled for April, could contribute to its scarcity. If supply decreases and demand persists or increases, scarcity could drive up the price of Bitcoin according to the principles of basic economics.

Historical Bitcoin ETF day

The global crypto and stock markets are eagerly awaiting the SEC's decision on spot Bitcoin ETFs, with the final deadline for approval or rejection of the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) set for January 10.

Experts assume that all 11 places will be filled Bitcoin ETF Prospectuses could be approved at the same time. Some issuers are reportedly recognizing Bitcoin ETFs amended S-1 filings The SEC is expected to announce these changes immediately, potentially allowing these ETFs to begin trading as early as Thursday.

Recent filings from major ETF issuers, including BlackRock and VanEck, indicate Their willingness to address the SEC's concerns paved the way for multiple S-1 filings until the regulator deemed the registration statements effective.

As the crypto market awaits the SEC's decision on spot Bitcoin ETFs, Lee's predictions add to the anticipation and speculation surrounding Bitcoin's future. If Lee's predictions come true, the price of Bitcoin could see a significant increase in value, opening up new opportunities for investors and enthusiasts alike.
