After significant gains during the US day on Monday, Bitcoin (BTC) broke several more round figure milestones early Tuesday morning in Asia, with the price surpassing $57,000 for the first time since November 2021.
At press time, Bitcoin had fallen within a whisker to $56,500, still down more than 9% in the last 24 hours. The broader CoinDesk 20 Index (CD20) was up 8.9% over the same period.
The rally began on Monday morning in the US as Bitcoin also broke $53,000 for the first time since November 2021. Later in the day, the price rose to over $54,000. Things became very active again during the US evening/early Asia morning, with Bitcoin breaking $55,000, $56,000 and $57,000 levels in a matter of minutes.
Bitcoin's surge early Monday sparked significant activity across US-based spot Bitcoin ETFs, with the group (ex-Grayscale's GBTC) posting record trading volume of $2.4 billion on Monday, according to Bloomberg.
GBTC recorded its smallest single-day Bitcoin outflow since spot ETFs launched on January 11. The fund only lost 921 tokens.
