Recent comments from CEOs do not bode well for a quick arrival on open mainnet.
Pi Network co-founders share vision in podcast
Pi Network has been growing organically to over 30 million users for over three years. Since December 2021, many users have been expecting the mainnet’s official arrival, but constant delays are still making users wait.
Following the accompanying mainnet launch in December 2021, a major blog post by the Pi Core team appeared in March 2022, updating the community and detailing mainnet progress. This blog post predicted the arrival of open mainnet in either March or June 2022.
Now in December 2022, many within the Pi community are looking for answers. The locked mainnet is taking longer than expected due to KYC issues. And the wait could be even longer.
A recent interview with Pi-Network co-founders Nicolas Kokkalis and Chengdiao Fan on the CRYPTO 101 podcast did little to raise spirits about the arrival of mainnet. Check out an excerpt in the following tweet where Fan predicts progress on the Pi Network vision over the next two to three years.
This is my opinion, many pioneers will move on after this month, fewer members join the project in the last 6 months, and if we haven’t entered the open mainnet by March 14th, things will get worse. #pi #pinenetwork

Edycabas, an active member of the Pi Network Community, is also pessimistic about the project over the next six months.
Another reason why many projects get anxious is the lack of fiat connection to the Pi network. Many projects find it difficult to raise funds, legitimize their projects, and build communities without access to funding.
“Because Pi has no value during the main network shutdown and legal currency exchange is also prohibited. And the timing of opening the main network is unknown, so all application development teams face a common problem, the problem of funding,” a Pi Chain Mall team member told BSC News.
Recent Validator issues have also begun to cause headaches for many experienced and passionate pioneers.
To their credit, the Pi Network Core team has been in communication with the Pi community at all times. There are even core team members who are designated as contacts on large Pi projects. There was transparency.
And despite it all, many members of the Pi community are persevering and persevering through market conditions.
1/8 #pioneers giving up. Look back on the 3 year journey. We’ve come a long way. Remember 1 thing. Pi Network is a self-booting company with no external means involved. I will link a story of a company that revolutionary bootstrapped itself.

With millions of members and empty promises from real-world utilities, many projects and users are still weighed down by the constant shifts. Another major update from the Pi Network team could well help ease community concerns.
Below is the full interview with Pi Network co-founders Nicolas Kokkalis and Chengdiao Fan, along with Bryce Paul from the Crypto 101 Podcast.
