Cleo Smith is found alive: Celebrities react to missing child’s discovery in WA

Australian celebrities have responded to news that four-year-old Cleo Smith has been miraculously found alive.

Cleo was found Wednesday, 18 days after disappearing from her family’s tent at a remote campsite in Western Australia.

Sunrise news anchor Edwina Bartholomew led the response on social media, writing, “CLEO FOUND. Latest news. The best possible result. Well done to the WA police. ‘

Ben Fordham collapsed on the show when he announced the news that Cleo was found.

The 2GB radio host’s voice trembled as he said, “As a dad of little girls, I’m just so happy for their families.”

“I don’t know why it hits so hard that it just does – if it’s a little person.”

Cleo was miraculously found alive Wednesday, 18 days after disappearing from her family’s tent at a remote campsite in Western Australia.

Police broke into a locked house in Carnarvon, 75 km from where she was missing, at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday and found the girl in one of the rooms.

WA Deputy Police Commissioner Col Blanch confirmed shortly before 7:00 a.m. AEST that little Cleo is alive and well and reunited with her relieved parents.

“One of the officers took her in his arms and asked her, what’s your name?” He said.

‘She said,’ My name is Cleo ‘. “

A Carnarvon man was arrested at home and taken into custody for questioning by detectives.

“This is the result that we have all hoped and prayed for,” said Deputy Commissioner Blanch.

“This is the result that we have achieved through incredible policing. I would like to thank Cleo’s parents, the Western Australian community and the many volunteers. ‘

“And of course I would like to thank my colleagues in the Western Australia Police Force.”

Police will announce more details about the rescue of Cleo later on Wednesday

“For now – welcome home, Cleo,” concluded Deputy Inspector Blanch.
