MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – WVU Athletics, Learfield Amplify, Mountaineer Sports Marketing and UScellular have partnered to host Youth Sports Day 2022 for the upcoming Mountaineer football and men’s basketball season.

Youth Sports Day is scheduled for Saturday, September 10 against Kansas at 6:00 p.m. This is an initiative to give children in the area the opportunity to attend an exclusive pregame clinic hosted by the Center for Applied Coaching and Sports Science at WVU.

“Athletics development is critical to both athletic performance and overall health and well-being throughout life,” said Kristen Dieffenbach, director of the center. “It is important for children to experience a wide range of sports and activities to support holistic skill and fitness development. The Center for Applied Coaching and Sports Science at WVU is excited to partner with WVU Athletics to provide children with a youth sports sampling experience that also gives WVU students in coaching and sports science the opportunity to share their enthusiasm for the sport and their knowledge to share with the community.”

Admission is open to all children, family, friends and coaches. Tickets are only $40 per person. The first 500 kids to register will receive a free WVU Youth Sports Day t-shirt courtesy of UScell.

This is the third annual Youth Sports Day for Football and an event that has seen tremendous growth since it started in 2019.

“We are excited to be a part of this exciting community event that helps support skill development and encourage physical activity,” said Nakeita Stewart, UScellal’s Mid-Atlantic Sales Director.

The pre-game celebrations begin at 3:30pm at the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility, located just behind Milan Puskar Stadium on the south side of the stadium. Registration starts at 3:00 p.m. All participants must sign a waiver upon arrival and at least one parent or legal guardian must be present at all times. T-shirts will be picked up at the registration desk. The clinic ends at 5:30 p.m. Fans are asked to enter the stadium through the southwest gate.
