The FHN Miles and Minutes Program turns exercise into cash for schools | Sports

ROCKFORD (WREX) – As the days get longer and the temperatures warmer, all you want is to be outside. So take your time outside and turn it into cash for the local schools! FHN is once again urging families in Northwest Illinois to turn their warm-weather chores like golf, 5k, hikes, mowing the lawn and even yard work into money!

The program begins May 30th and runs through August 28th. Individuals can start any time throughout the summer and there is no entry fee, anyone over the age of 12 can participate, even student athletes can compete!

Competition rules, registration and mileage calculation can be found on the FHN website. There are several award categories including

  • School system with the most average kilometers driven per participant

  • School system with the most kilometers overall

  • Sweepstakes draws to win one of three cash prizes

The awards will be presented in the fall. Participants from any zip code can support any school system. Running totals are displayed on the website and reported throughout the summer
