We’re excited to announce the launch of Sportword, Planet Sport’s new game challenges you to guess soccer and other sports-related words within six tries.
As you may have guessed, this is the football version we host here at Planet Football, and in addition to our hundreds of other football quizzes that many of you already play on a daily basis, including our type in answer list quizzes and our complete the football line -Up Quiz.
We’re busy building a new home for Sportword and all our other sports games and quizzes, but in the meantime you can play the daily soccer game right here, so please bookmark this page, try today’s word and come along you again tomorrow.
game instructions
Simply put, you have six attempts to guess a five-letter word. There will be a clue for each one to help focus your mind a bit.
Type your first guess, then press Enter. Each tile changes color to indicate whether the letter is in the correct position, appears elsewhere in the word, or does not appear at all. A green tile means the letter is in the correct position; an orange tile means the letter is somewhere else in the word; a gray tile means that the letter is not in the word at all.
If you’re having trouble, you’ll see a hint button that becomes available after your fourth attempt. If you click on it, a tile will appear. Note, however, that this is only available to logged-in users.
You can also click “give up” if you’re really in trouble and just want to be put out of your misery. It’s not for the purists, but it’s nice to have the option!
As with all of our other football quizzes, we also have a leaderboard that ranks players based on the number of tries and the time it takes them to guess the correct word.
More Sportword games
We will soon be launching Planet Sport Games where you can play all our sports quizzes, but in the meantime F1 fans can play the daily F1 Sportword game on PlanetF1.
We will also be launching rugby, rugby league and tennis versions very soon, then Planet Sport games will allow you to play subcategories such as 2000 Premier League players. And logged in users can play as many of these categories and words as they want in one day.
