The Buddle start gives a big boost to popular sports and popular sports activities

Recreational sports clubs and community exercise groups have found a new home with the introduction of Buddle.

Funded by the National Lottery, the program – which replaces our Club Matters offering – provides free learning and support resources to inspire and empower clubs and organizations that provide sport and physical activity, and the professionals who work with them.

Buddle, a mix of “Buddy” (the role we will play with these groups) and “Huddle” (which symbolizes the coming together and collaboration needed to help an organization succeed), was based on of feedback from partners and developed in conjunction with existing users.

Phil Smith, our managing director of partnerships, welcomed the launch as an important moment for the sport and physical activity sector.

“The launch of Buddle is a significant moment in our support for those who help make grassroots sport and physical activity possible,” he said.

“We know that community groups, whether large sports clubs or more informal gatherings that encourage people to be physically active, play a huge role in helping people lead active lives.

“The coronavirus pandemic and subsequent cost of living crisis have been enormously challenging times for these groups, and we hope Buddle will ensure these organizations have access to the tools and resources they need to succeed.”

“We are passionate about ensuring organizations are safe, inclusive, agile and resilient enough to secure their long-term future and realize the benefits of sport and physical activity for all.”
