The UK Street League works with young people aged 16-24 who are struggling to find a foothold in the labor market.
The charity encourages young people to be physically active while advising them on the best career path. It also gives them the opportunity to gain skills and formal qualifications.
“We use sport to motivate young people and develop soft skills – like communication, problem solving and leadership – which are really important in the world of work,” Steven Jardine, Street League’s head of UK operations, was quoted as saying by UK Metro.
“It also ensures they are in a safe, friendly environment where they feel comfortable talking about their career aspirations and listening to our advice on how to achieve them.”
Street League is funded by the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. It supports over 2,000 young people across England and Scotland each year.
Street League, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in November, reaches young people through school visits, sporting events and social media advertising.
