Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is preparing for brilliant news with a key player to his future plans ready to sign at the dotted line at Anfield.

The Merseysiders are enjoying a season to date that many would consider subpar. Having lost six times in 18 Premier League games, they are already a worrying 10 points adrift of Champions League spots. And Saturday’s 3-0 setback at Brighton has already been branded by Klopp as one of, if not the worst, defeats of his tenure.

Indeed, Liverpool need to do whatever they can to climb up the table and enjoy a more consistent second half of the season. They need to balance their drive to get promoted to the Premier League with the challenge of getting as far as possible in the Champions League. As it stands, this could be their best shot at returning to competition next season.

To help his side on their way, Klopp has signed Cody Gakpo from PSV. That deal could top £45million and the Dutchman joins to add another wealthy layer to Liverpool’s attack.

And if everyone is fit, he will initially face the likes of Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino.

With competition for places so fierce, some are reporting Firmino’s time at Anfield could soon be coming to an end.

Since moving from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015, he has scored 107 goals in 348 appearances. But with his contract expiring this summer, a host of suitors are preparing moves to lure him away.

To this end, recent reports have suggested Firmino could follow Cristiano Ronaldo to Saudi Arabia.

Indeed, the Brazilian could make insane amounts of money by moving to the Middle East and far more than what Liverpool could and would pay him.

There is also talk of an emotional return to Brazil, with the club he supported as a boy, Corinthians, also evidently enthusiastic.

However, Sky Deutschland’s trusted journalist Florian Plettenberg claims Firmino now has a “clear bias” for his next move.

And he claims Firmino is ready to commit to another two years at Anfield by extending his deal until 2025.

Per Plettenberg, Firmino wants to stay at Anfield and continue playing football at the highest level.

And the 31-year-old has been in superb form for the Reds this season, proving he still has the A game. Indeed, Firmino has recorded nine goals and four assists in 21 games this season, underscoring his very obvious qualities for Liverpool.

And the news that Firmino is ready to sign will come as a huge relief to Klopp.

The Reds boss loves Firmino more than anything as a player, calls him the “heart and soul of Liverpool” earlier this year.

His current deal reportedly nets the player £180,000 a week. His new deal is likely to be on reduced terms, with recent talks of an extension being described as “positive”.

Now Firmino seems ready to put pen to paper on Merseyside. And a new deal could be announced soon to end any fleeting talks of a move this month.
