It’s all systems taking place across 10 sports in October, with the 2022/23 Isuzu UTE A-League men’s campaign starting in a week, while Australian MotoGP returns to the calendar for the first time since 2019.
The 2022-23 NBL season ends this weekend, which means Sunday Hoops is back! 10 Play will be the place to watch the two weekly Sunday games starting October 2nd.
There are also two big CommBank Matildas games to draw your attention to as Tony Gustavsson’s side take on South Africa in London before being hosted by Denmark in Viborg a few days later.
The Isuzu UTE A-League men is back!
After what feels like an eternity, next week we can finally celebrate the return of the A-League with a big final rematch to whet our appetites when Melbourne City and Western United meet at AAMI Park on Friday night.
Will Paddy Kisnorbos City retaliate for that terrific defeat in the final, or will John Aloisi’s side prove City’s bogeyman once again?
In the meantime, we head up the coast for a delicious F3 derby as the Central Coast Mariners host the Newcastle Jets at the early kick-off – live and exclusively on Paramount+.
There’s a bumper for Big Blue to look forward to when Sydney FC host Melbourne Victory on 10 Bold in prime time. The likes of Joe Lolley and Jack Rodwell will star for the Sky Blues as they take on the might of Luis Nani and Jake Brimmer.

There is also a very welcome return to Sky Stadium for Wellington Phoenix, who begin their season against Adelaide United on Sunday 9 October.
Phoenix will finally be able to put on a show for their followers after being on the road for so long due to COVID. Don’t underestimate the power of playing at home as Wellington can finally reap the rewards of using Sky Stadium to their advantage.

The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix returns to Phillip Island
MotoGP fans will be licking their lips in anticipation as we prepare for the return of the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. For three years fans were forced to watch our Aussie heroes from afar as COVID fell victim to the showcase event at Phillip Island.
This will be the first time Australian fans will see Remy Gardner on the MotoGP circuit following his triumphs in Moto2, while it will be a real celebration for Jack Miller when he lands in Australia.
The veteran Ducati frontman heads into this race with a flawless performance at the Japanese Grand Prix, where he claimed his first win of the season. He’ll be hoping for something similar at the Thai Grand Prix before arriving at Phillip Island.

Matildas prepares for a historic clash with South Africa
The CommBank Matildas will reunite in October to prepare for two games, the first of which will be a very special game against South Africa.
The game against South Africa is historic as it will be the first-ever meeting between an Australian women’s national team and an African nation outside of a FIFA Women’s World Cup or Olympics.
The South African women’s team, also known as Banyana Banyana, has been a driving force in African football. They come into this friendly having recently been crowned Africa Women’s Cup of Nations, an outstanding achievement considering they qualified for their first major tournament just a decade ago.

After this duel in London, CommBank Matildas will travel to Viborg to play against Denmark.
The Danes are considered one of the strongest nations in women’s football. However, the Matildas are no strangers to either their opponents or the climate, as many play in the Danish women’s league.

It’s only a matter of hours before the 2022-23 NBL season begins. That means Sunday Hoops is back. Two live games every Sunday through next April are sure to keep you busy.
Apart from last season, we definitely have another great campaign ahead of us. The Tasmania JackJumpers made headlines with an insanely good inaugural season. Which team will rise to the challenge this year?
All the action starts this Sunday when Melbourne United host New Zealand Breakers before we head west when Perth Wildcats meet the Brisbane Bullets.
