Sport Climbing World Championships 2023 in Prague: Dohyun Lee takes gold in bouldering while Adam Ondra returns with silver

Dohyun Lee Korea Republic came forward with an impressive performance IFSC sport climbing World Championship Won the bouldering competition in Prague, Czech Republic on Saturday (June 3).

20-year-old Lee was the epitome of composure on the fourth and final boulder, knowing he was going to lose the title.

Up until the final boulder, the competition was effectively a two-horse race between Lee and the Czech legend Adam Ondrathe only two climbers who scaled three boulders.

Both climbers managed the last boulder, which ultimately put the win in Lee’s favor as he only needed five attempts for his four tops.

Still, it was an impressive performance from Ondra, who competed in his first World Cup of the 2023 season, adding a little more class to the first competition in his home country. Ondra took silver with 13 attempts for his four tops.

Frenchman Mejdi Schalck, who appeared on course to win his third gold medal of the season, had to settle for third place after failing to top the third block of plates. Schalck set the pace on the first two boulders with two attempts in as many summits before failing on the third.

The final was a prime example of diversity, with athletes from six different countries battling for medals for the first time since the IFSC World Cup Munich 2019.
