According to reports, Skip Bayless will need a new partner.

According to Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post, Shannon Sharpe, who became the Talking Head of the NFL Hall of Famer, has entered into an acquisition agreement with Fox Sports to continue his seven-year stint alongside Bayless in Fox Sports’ Skip and Shannon: Undisputed 1 to finish.

Sharpe’s final appearance after the NBA Finals wraps up is reportedly set to be in June. He will also reportedly be taking his Fox Sports Club Shay Shay podcast with him.

The development ends a successful partnership for Fox Sports after Bayless was poached by ESPN’s “First Take” in 2016 and paired with Sharpe, who was previously an NFL commentator for CBS. Sharpe has been a hugely successful ESPN2 show and has delivered on Fox’s own morning debate show another vote in opposition to Bayless.

However, this partnership experienced ups and downs. The Post noted that there was very public tension between Sharpe and Bayless over the Damar Hamlin incident, in which the Buffalo Bills safety went into cardiac arrest during a January game and had to be defibrillated on the field and then transported to the Hospital.

Like many others, Sharpe was visibly disturbed by the sight of a young man nearly dying in the field. He was also apparently outraged by a widely criticized tweet from Bayless asking if the NFL could really reschedule the rest of the Monday Night Football game given the schedule and stakes.

Sharpe missed the following day’s episode of “Undisputed,” then complained about Bayless’ tweet and got into a fight with the co-host after he interjected:

Less than six months later, Sharpe appears to be in the process of leaving Fox, while Bayless remains stuck on a four-year, $32 million deal he signed in March 2021. It’s unclear where Sharpe will go from here, although it likely won’t be due to the lack of options.

Sharpe’s time at Fox has seen him make headlines beyond the Hamlin incident, including an ugly run-in with the father of Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies and a libel lawsuit from Brett Favre over his response to allegations of misconduct in of social assistance.
