Chase Sexton will miss the upcoming round of AMA Pro Motocross due to a concussion he sustained in an accident during midweek testing.
The incident happened on May 30 during a multi-team test at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. The Honda HRC rider suffered a head impact in his fall and immediately sought medical attention, who was confirmed to have concussion. He was also diagnosed with mono.
The recently crowned AMA Supercross Champion got off to a strong start in the outdoor series, finishing second overall in the inaugural run at Fox Raceway. Notably, Sexton also crashed during qualifying at Fox Raceway last Saturday and has been struggling with a few minor ailments ever since.
“I was pretty shaky from my crash in qualifying on Saturday and now with the mono and concussion on top of that on Tuesday I want to do the right thing and hopefully be back on track soon,” said Sexton. “I’m totally depressed to have to miss this weekend’s race.”
The number 23 driver will be absent from the squad at the June 3rd Hangtown National in Rancho Cordova, California.
A return date has not been set.
