Up to 100 North Bay youth can play registered sports after a Kid Sport received $20,000 from the federal government this week.
Kid Sport North Bay supports 21 sports groups and 42 community organizations; to help disadvantaged children with sports.
“We have not heard from some of these 42 organizations for a number or years or since we returned from the pandemic. In 2019 we financially helped 207 kids, we’re tending to help 100 kids this year,” Dave Mendicino, chairman of Kid Sport North Bay, told CTV News.
“Participation rates have gone down, so we will be reaching out to the 42 organizations to see how we can help them and increase participation rates.”
Overall, Kid Sport receives $4 million from the federal government to support children and athletics across the country.
