Beating Ohio State once at football is cool, but you know what else is cool? Beat the horse chestnuts a few more times – you know, for good measure.
Michigan Baseball is looking to complete a three-game streak against archrival OSU, and one Wolverine had a chance to compete in both the football and baseball rivalries. Joey Velazquez is a linebacker on the gridiron (but has mostly made his mark on special teams this past season), but he’s also a bencher on the diamond. When corn and blue found themselves tied in the seventh inning, Velazquez came to bat and drove to the lead.

For someone from Columbus, Ohio, who was previously involved in Ohio State baseball, having the football win along with the baseball wins must feel pretty good for Velazquez. The latter especially, not only because it’s against his hometown school and rival, but because he took sabbatical from baseball during spring football and devoted the entire session to the college’s most successful program.
At the time of writing, the game is still ongoing, but the Wolverines have a 5-3 lead over the Buckeyes in the lower round of 16.
