Pochettino's Chelsea have won just one of their last five Premier League games
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino says he understands why fans were frustrated during Saturday's draw at Brentford.
The club sit 11th in the Premier League after winning just 10 games this season and the Argentine is under increasing pressure at Stamford Bridge.
“We have to accept the frustration,” Pochettino said on Thursday.
During the 2-2 draw at Brentford, where a late header from Axel Disasi saved the Blues a point, some fans shouted the name of former manager Jose Mourinho.
“If I were a fan, maybe I would be the same because we are not living up to expectations,” added Pochettino, who took over last July.
“We must be responsible for our performance and strive to improve.”
Chelsea have spent more than £1bn on transfers since Todd Boehly took over in May 2022, but Pochettino has struggled to juggle the expensively assembled squad on the pitch.
Chelsea, which is closer to the relegation zone than the top four, hosts Newcastle in the Premier League on Monday.
“We suffer from negativity, but we cannot stop believing. We have to keep believing and try to perform on Monday,” said Pochettino.
“I firmly believe that we can be successful. Of course we need our fans. We hope the fans will get behind us on Monday and help us win the game. This is so important for our players.”
“We can expect that we can start winning games to get close to qualifying for Europe. The opportunity is there, but if you give up faith, we will perish.” [the league].”
On Thursday, Chelsea also announced pre-tax losses of £90.1 million in the period between March 2022 and June 2023 – the first year under ownership by Todd Boehly's Clearlake Capital consortium.
The club's losses in the 12-month period were narrower than the £121.4m the previous year, while their turnover rose to £512.5m from £481.3m in 2021-22.
The £4.25 billion sale of Chelsea to a consortium led by American investor Boehly and private equity firm Clearlake Capital was completed in May 2022.
