IWF Commits to Environmental Sustainability – International Weightlifting Federation

The IWF is committed to environmental sustainability

The International Weightlifting Federation is the “United Nations Sports for Climate Action Framework” and “The Race to Zero” Campaign signaling a strong commitment to protecting the environment against climate change. The IWF has joined 300 other signatories from the sports sector who are committed to environmental sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint by working towards a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and zero carbon emissions by 2040.

All participants of theUN Sports for Climate Action Framework” commit to five principles to combat climate change:

1. promoting greater environmental responsibility;
2. reducing the overall climate impact;
3. education on climate protection;
4. promoting sustainable and responsible consumption;
5. Stand up for climate protection through communication.

To be successful, the IMF will work with relevant global stakeholders to develop and implement a new climate change agenda across all areas of IMF activity.

On behalf of the sporting community, we must act together now to protect the opportunities and promise that sport will continue to be available to young people today.”
