Conor Chaplin has now scored 10 goals for Ipswich this season
A brace from Conor Chaplin helped the high-flying Ipswich to a 2-1 win over promotion rivals Peterborough.
It was a fourth consecutive defeat for the visitors, with Frankie Kent scoring as Town moved up top of the table.
Chaplin gave Town the lead from a precision Sam Morsy cross, but the visitors almost equalized in the 27th minute when a Jonson Clark-Harris free-kick hit the top of the bar from 35 yards out.
Four minutes later, Kent equalized the sides. He headed home from a Kwame Poke cross after a brief corner routine.
Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton’s knees came to the rescue as he blocked a Clarke-Harris shot, but Chaplin put City ahead in the 58th minute with a strike from the center of the box following a Leif Davis corner.
Referee Ollie Yates refused a penalty for Ipswich when Davis appeared to be pinned by two Peterborough defenders and Freddie Ladapo had the ball in the net in the 88th minute, but the attempt was ruled offside.
