Generations For Peace launches sports camps in Jordan

Generations For Peace, in partnership with the Jordanian Ministry of Education and the Jordan School Sport Federation, has launched 20 summer sports camps for public school students across the Kingdom for the second consecutive year.

The sports camps started on August 1st and will end on August 12th. Providing 2,000 students of diverse nationalities a safe and fun space to learn and interact, these camps promote trust, inclusion and belonging through basketball, volleyball and other sporting activities.

These camps are part of the Riadati program, a new three-year partnership between Generations For Peace and the Olympic Refuge Foundation.

Through this partnership, Generations For Peace will implement sport for shelter-based activities aimed at improving the mental health and psychosocial well-being of youth affected by displacement across Jordan.

Generations For Peace President Dr. Mohanned Arabiat said the 2022 camps have had a remarkably positive impact on teachers who have acquired new skills to use Sport For Protection professionally and on displaced students who have found a way to do so at these camps to work around barriers of fear, expression and inclusion.

“We appreciate our renewed partnership with the Olympic Refuge Foundation and look forward to seeing the positive impact of the 2023 camps on a new group of students,” added Arabiat.
