Game changer for women’s sport

The NSW Nationals in State Government will invest $25 million in a groundbreaking women’s sports facilities program aimed at getting more women and girls to play sports.

The Community Scheme for Women Friendly Sports Facilities and Lighting Upgrade Grants will ensure that community sports facilities across NSW are transformed into safer and more inclusive venues for women.

The program will provide women-friendly locker rooms, facilities and lighting improvements at campuses across the state to enable more women and girls to participate in sports.

The program is part of a 10-year, $16.5 billion budget to support opportunities for women and children.

Nationals Women’s Secretary Bronnie Taylor said the program is a game changer for women’s sports.

“Women’s sport continues to grow in our state and this program will provide safer, more inclusive community sports facilities that our women athletes need and deserve,” said Ms. Taylor.

“I’m proud to be part of a government that is breaking down barriers and inspiring more women and young girls to get involved in sport.”

The grant program for women-friendly community sports facilities and lighting upgrades will open in late 2022.
