Erie Otters Sport giving away jerseys inspired by Black History Month

On Tuesday night, the Erie Otters wore special pre-match jerseys in honor of Black History Month.

The custom jerseys, designed by Jo Dabney, were worn by the Otters before the game and later raffled off with proceeds going to Erie’s Black Wall Street.

Kyra Taylor, the executive director of this group, shared the importance of diversity.

“There has been a lack of color in the sport of hockey for a long time,” Taylor said. “It broadens the horizons of both the white organization and voters here and the black population here in Erie.”
