Donores Lara O’Byrne of Lucan won the national heptathlon title after surpassing 5,000 points for the first time
Donore Harriers increased her gold medal tally to five at the 2022 Youth National Athletics Championships, while Tallaght AC’s Cormac Dixon stormed to victory in the U17 3000m final in a new personal best of 8:40.42
Dixon continued his great form at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Slovakia when he beat his previous best by 12 seconds in 8:28.62 when he went off the line in the boys’ 3000m final.
Later in the month, Donores Jack Raftery helped Ireland reach the 4x400m mixed relay final at the World Championships, while clubmates Lara O’Byrne, Louis O’Loughlin and Daragh McAuley made it onto the podium at the U23 national championships .
O’Byrne later broke the 5,000 point mark for the first time and set three new club records for Donore Harriers on their way to winning the senior national heptathlon championship at Tullamore.
