James Collins has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season

Derby County ended Barnsley’s unbeaten away run in League One as James Collins scored twice in a 3-0 win.

Collins scored a first-half penalty and struck again after Craig Forsyth scored, handing Barnsley their first away defeat of the season.

Derby started strongly, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing causing problems on the left, although Joe Wildsmith had to go past an Adam Phillips free-kick in the 21st minute.

But Derby took the lead in the 35th minute when Jordan Williams beat Collins and conceded a penalty, which the striker confidently converted.

Derby were worth their lead and extended it in the 48th minute when Forsyth scored with a low shot from a long free kick.

A repeat of this move gave Derby their third goal in the 63rd minute when Forsyth again came into play on the left and fired a shot which Ben Killip parried, but Collins bundled in the rebound.

Tom Barkhuizen shot over and Louie Sibley rattled the crossbar as Derby celebrated a comprehensive victory.
