Catapult Collaboration brings world-class sports technology to USW

The University of South Wales (USW) is partnering with Catapult, a sports performance technology specialist. The three-year contract brings best-in-class wearable technology and analytics software for use by exercise students.

Using Catapult GPS vests and a bespoke analytics system, undergraduate and graduate football and rugby coaching students can analyze technical and tactical data to improve performance and inform the coaching process.

Jay Probert, Sport Division Manager said:

“USW Sport alumni are employed internationally, so experience with world-class technology is essential.

“Catapult has a world-class reputation for performance analysis across a variety of sports, so this collaboration prepares students for employment in the world of sport. We look forward to working with them.”

Jacob Sherwood, Catapult Business Development Manager said:

“We are excited to expand our partnership with the university, the facilities at USW are incredible; The indoor playing field with ClearSky LPS system for accurate indoor position data and the performance analysis suite are two very impressive learning environments. University students now have access to a full suite of products used by elite teams across the industry. Ben and the team have a clear goal of ensuring students have access to software used in the applied environment, which greatly improves their employability.”
