Carlisle United 3-0 Doncaster Rovers

Jack Stretton helped Carlisle into the League Two play-off places with a double in an impressive 3-0 win over Doncaster.

The loaned Derby striker, 21, hit a quick double after Callum Guy’s opener at Brunton Park.

Paul Simpson’s side, unbeaten at home this season, jumped up to sixth after their ninth game unbeaten.

Carlisle goalkeeper Tomas Holy made a great save to keep Ben Close out before his opponent Jonathan Mitchell was exceptionally good to pin Owen Moxon’s header to the bar.

The hosts took the lead just before half-time when Guy hit the bottom corner from 25 yards out.

Stretton opened his account for the club eight minutes into the second half when he turned Jordan Gibson’s effort home.

The forward put in his second 13 minutes later after Gibson’s perfectly weighted pass.

Mitchell saved Ryan Edmondson’s injury time penalty after Adam Long fouled substitute Jayden Harris in the box.
