British Gymnastics has appointed Tracy Whittaker-Smith as its new Performance Director to help implement reform in the sport.
The Whyte Report also highlighted that welfare “was not central to the culture of British gymnastics”.
Whittaker-Smith will be responsible for leading the Olympic disciplines and two out of four strategic priorities.
The two focal points in her area of responsibility are cultural reform and path development in the women’s elite program and modernization of coaching in the high-performance path.
A second director is also to be appointed and will share responsibility with Whittaker-Smith. This position will take care of the other two priorities, cultural change and welfare.
Whittaker-Smith, who will combine her new role with her position as Head National Coach of Trampoline, said: “I look forward to bringing my extensive experience, values, ethics and strategy to this role.
“It is an exciting time to be working with British Gymnastics and I welcome the opportunity to support athletes, coaches and support staff on the Paris 2024 mission and to accelerate the path of reform to make even more positive impact on the gymnastics community achieve. “
