Arsenal were due to play Manchester City this week but the Queen’s death meant the original clash against PSV had to be rearranged – so City can wait.
As it turns out, it’s probably a good thing Arsenal aren’t up against an angry City side fresh from the Anfield defeat.
Arsenal have extended their lead in the Premier League after a hard-fought win over Leeds and go into Europa League Group A with confidence.
The Gunners have been as dominant in Europe as they have been domestically this season, with three wins from three.
Admittedly those victories were against opponents they are expected to beat, but now they face a double header against their closest group rivals, Dutch club PSV Eindhoven.
If Arsenal can win in north London they will take control of the group and will most likely win it with just two more games left. The Gunners are already two points clear of the Dutch.
When Arsenal tire of their exploits at Elland Road, PSV are not the best team to face.
Former Manchester United striker and Martin Keown protagonist Ruud van Nistelrooy has assembled a side full of pace, energy and technical ability.
The likes of Cody Gakpo, Guus Til, Joey Veerman, Xavi Simons and Noni Madueke are showing signs of becoming world-class talent and attracting the admiring gaze of Europe’s elite.
If they can click on the night they will be a real handful for Mikel Arteta’s men.

PSV: Benitez; Mwene, Ramalho, Bishop, Max, Gutierrez, Veerman, Sangare, Simons, Til, Steel.
Arsenal vs Aston PSV: injuries and suspensions
Arsenal still have long-term injuries to Emile Smith Rowe and Mohamed Elneny, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is likely to be out with a muscle injury.
PSV were expected to be without some of their key players for this game but coach Ruud van Nistelrooy threw a small curveball by hinting that some might be available.
Ex-Spurs prodigy Noni Madueke will travel and could play a role in the game despite being out with an ankle injury since last season.
Madueke trained at Crystal Palace aged nine before joining Spurs a few years later and representing them at youth level.
Striker Luuk de Jong and defender Mauro Junior have also recovered from long-term injuries but van Nistelrooy suggested they could get a few minutes too.
None of these players even made it onto the bench for PSV over the weekend. Ex-Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel is definitely out with a hamstring injury.

Arsenal vs PSV: Form guide
Arsenal maintained their great form with an important win at Leeds at the weekend.
The Gunners maintained their 1-0 lead after a first-half goal from Bukayo Saka, despite a Patrick Bamford penalty and a reversed red card and penalty.
Arsenal remain Premier League leaders and even extended their lead thanks to Liverpool’s win over Man City.
In Europe, they were just as impressive, topping Group A with three wins from three games.
Domestically, PSV are hot on the heels of Eredivisie leaders and rivals Ajax.
They are currently one point behind the Amsterdam giants, but also just one point ahead of Feyenoord and Alkmaar.
PSV have recorded some big victories this season, including last weekend’s 6-1 win over Utrecht, a 6-1 win over Excelsior and a 7-1 win over Volendam.
In Europe they have won two and drawn once (at home against Bodo/Glimt).

Mikel Arteta after Arsenal’s fight win over Leeds at the weekend:
“It’s always very hectic here (Elland Road), it’s no coincidence to win like that. What the team shows, what character it shows, what personality it shows, the desire to play. There were players who really struggled after Thursday night. Going to Norway on Thursday night and then coming to Leeds and winning both games like we did is a huge credit to the lads. It shows a lot about the team.”
Arsenal vs. PSV: The last time they met
These two clubs last met in March 2007 in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The second leg took place in north London after the first leg in Eindhoven ended 1-0 against PSV.
A 1-1 draw at the Emirates meant Arsenal were eliminated from the competition 2-1 on aggregate.

Arsenal vs PSV: Players to watch
Eddie Nketiah has scored two goals from three starts in the competition and is being preferred to Gabriel Jesus at this point and while Arsenal are doing so well in the Premier League.
The Europa League offers Nketiah a platform to show off his skills, with the World Cup and more games on all fronts likely to mean Jesus will have to take a break at some point.
Nketiah’s ability to deliver when needed could be crucial to the Gunners’ season.
Cody Gakpo is one of PSV’s own. He has risen through the ranks and become one of the hottest prospects in Europe.
While a certain Erling Haaland has grabbed the headlines for his Premier League goalscoring streak, 19-year-old Gakpo has even more goals to his name with 13 goals and 11 assists in all competitions (24 overall) (Haaland currently has 23).
Those numbers have meant that Cody is now wanted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs – he almost joined Manchester United in the summer, Leeds and Southampton have shown interest and even Arsenal themselves have eyed the Dutch prodigy.
And Gakpo isn’t the only PSV player Arsenal need to keep an eye on.
Winger Guus Til has seven goals and two assists in all competitions this season, midfielder Joey Veerman has six goals and five assists and 19-year-old Xavi Simons has ten goals and four assists since joining from PSG.
