England won the U17 World Cup in India in 2017
The Indian Football Association has been suspended by Fifa for ‘undue interference by third parties’.
The suspension means the women’s U17 World Cup, which is due to start in the country on October 11, will not go ahead as planned.
India’s highest court dissolved the All India Football Federation (AIFF) in May and installed a three-person committee to govern the sport.
The member associations of Fifa must be free from legal and political influence.
World governing body Fifa and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have met with Indian football stakeholders and set out a roadmap for the AIFF, which must change its rules by the end of July and hold elections by September 15.
“The suspension will be lifted once an order to set up a management committee to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee has been lifted and the AIFF administration regains full control over the day-to-day affairs of the AIFF,” Fifa added.
“FIFA is in constant constructive contact with the Ministry of Youth and Sport in India and hopes that the case will have a positive outcome.”
