Former South Africa U20 international Aidon Davis has been with the Cheetahs since 2018
Aidon Davis, from the South African’s back row, will join the Premier League’s Exeter Chiefs in the summer from the Cheetahs.
The 27-year-old, who played for French clubs Toulon and Bayonne, has signed a two-year contract with Sandy Park.
He comes as England striker Jonny Hill, Scotland’s Sam Skinner and Sean Lonsdale leave the club at the end of the current season.
“When you talk to him you get the impression he’s still very ambitious,” said Exeter manager Rob Baxter.
“He played very well for the Cheetahs, he covered their entire back five,” the Chiefs rugby director added to ` Sport.
“He’s probably not your traditional second row in terms of height, he’s probably not as tall as a lot of the other guys but he likes to push himself, he likes to hit, he likes to get involved in the game and he likes to be on the ball.
“We’ve lost a couple of back-five forwards, we’ve weakened a bit in that area this season as the number of international call-ups with injuries has multiplied, adding a little bit of depth and a little bit of experience, but so has he also wants to have the dream of winning a big cup.
“I want to bring as many players into the team as possible.”
