On March 30th, GRIPNR will launch The Glimmering, a next-gen TTRPG experience designed to be played with Genesis Collection NFT heroes and advance the player’s character live on the blockchain. The company will be coining phase two of its collection of characters available for 250 MATIC (which gets you a lot more than a JPEG, I can tell you what the perks of ownership includes, I can tell you what perks include) over a three-day period to on-chain play. Unlike countless NFTs that mint with the promise of “future benefits,” players will take their freshly minted characters and schedule sessions to play The Glimmering starting the same day (this hasn’t been done before).
It was recently announced that a strategic partnership with famed NFT collector and evangelist Jimmy McNeils, aka j1mmy.eth, is bringing several of his Mutant Apes (bored monkeys mutated by Mutant Serum) to The Glimmering as in-game villains . The collaboration will be celebrated with a future collection of Glimmering Mutant Ape derivatives.
Reimagined by GRIPNR Lead Artist Justin “Angryblue” Kamerer, The Apes will be included in future The Glimmering game adventures. Owners of Glimmering’s Genesis Collection of Heroes will receive the first dibs to imprint the Glimmering Mutant Apes when they release in Spring 2023.
The Glimmerings is set in a tiny far north corner of a world called Asuwa in the Moonstone Empire. It’s a world of magic. Danger lurks throughout the world of Asuwa; but fame, honor and riches await those willing to take the risk. The first six adventures of The Glimmering will be available for character levels 1-3 and will be rooted in a modified version of the 5th Edition ruleset. Players who are already familiar with D&D can easily switch to The Glimmering without learning a new system.
Using the Polygon blockchain, all matches are logged and players can transparently track character progression, loot, and campaign progress. As players’ characters level up through the game, each character’s artwork will visually change over time based on in-game results, allowing NFT owners to influence their own rarities. Digital collectibles allow players to resell characters, weapons, armor, treasure, and other items acquired through play or purchase.
The team creating the world of The Glimmering are among the best in their respective industries, including game design, art, technology, and storytelling.
