We’re in Week 10 of the 2023 NFL season and it’s been a great week so far for Pickswise NFL handicappers, to say the least. We are on our side and up +37.9 units overall NFL picks for every game this season with a record of 147-122-4. With an interesting slate coming this weekend, can we add more winners to this list? Let’s break this down The best NFL bets from 3 of our top NFL handicappers because we want to help you bet better and make money this season.
Chris Farley: Cleveland Browns +6 over Baltimore Ravens (-110)
Right now, Baltimore is playing like the best team in the NFL. Last Sunday, at the start of Week 9, they overcame one of the league’s best rush defenses and gained an incredible 298 yards on 7.3 yards per carry. Overall, it was one of the most impressive performances we’ve seen from an NFL team all year. It outgained a playoff-caliber team 515 to 151 total yards and resulted in their fourth straight win. Honestly, we can’t say anything negative about the Ravens based on their recent performances. Lamar Jackson throws with impeccable accuracy and without hesitation in a new system he seems to have mastered, their WRs seem more in sync, and their defense looks as fearsome and effective as any in pro football.
Enter the Cleveland Browns. Many believe the Browns have the best defense in the NFL. It’s hard to argue after another worldwide show last Sunday. Sure, they were playing at home against Clayton Tune, a quarterback who doesn’t even sound real, and the results were predictable. The Cardinals failed to score a single point, losing 27-0, and even more incredible, they gained just 58 total yards. There’s nothing wrong or misleading about an elite defense doing exactly what it’s supposed to do against a bad offense, and that’s what we saw for Cleveland in Week 9. Of course, they will have a much better operation this Sunday.
The biggest X-factor in this game is Deshaun Watson. At this point, especially at home, we can expect the Ravens to play great football. What we want to see from the Browns is their offense starting to come together, and we saw a semblance of that last weekend. Watson settled in well and handled last week’s game with ease. He played error-free football and his arm looked healthy. Additionally, Watson did not play in the Ravens’ 28-3 win at Cleveland in Week 4 earlier this season. Despite Baltimore’s recent dominance, two elite defenders and two-star quarterbacks facing each other in a big division game show us that this lineup should be shorter than it is. Think about it – how do the Browns, a great rival, manage to get on the same line as Seattle last week? That should not be.

Andrew Ortenberg: Washington Commanders +6.5 over Seattle Seahawks (-110)
We have an interesting NFC matchup coming up in Week 10 as the Washington Commanders take on the Seattle Seahawks. I play Washington on the track, but this is more of a fade from Seattle than an endorsement of the Commanders. Given what we’ve seen from the Seahawks lately, I don’t think they should be the favorite for a near-touchdown against anyone. They were demolished by the Ravens last week, and that pathetic performance wasn’t exactly an outlier. They had gotten ugly wins the last two weeks, but only because the opposing quarterbacks in those games were Josh Dobbs and PJ Walker. And it took a last-second comeback to get past Walker and the Browns at home. The week before, the Seahawks had scored just 13 points in a loss to the Bengals.
Last season, Geno Smith’s touchdown-to-interception ratio was about 3:1, and so far this year it’s 9:7. Washington certainly didn’t look like they were going to make it after the trade deadline as they were coming off a road win against New England where Sam Howell impressed once again. His style of play is unconventional, but it’s hard to deny that Howell has a certain X-factor at this point. Aside from a loss to Buffalo in Week 3, the Commanders have been in every game they have played. They’ve taken Philly all the way twice and even to overtime on the road, so I don’t understand why they can’t stay within one score against a mediocre Seahawks team. Howell has already shown that he is not fazed by difficult environments, as three of his best games came in New England, Philly and Denver.

John Martin: Denver Broncos +7.5 over Buffalo Bills (-110)
The performance numbers simply can’t let the Buffalo Bills down – but I can. I faded them last week against the Bengals and am doing it again this week. Josh Allen is visibly bothered by his shoulder. Only one quarterback in the NFL was worse in pass attempts of more than 15 yards downfield last month: Zach Wilson. Allen does get an extra day of rest here because there’s Monday Night Football, but I’m not sure that matters. It’s certainly a big jump from trying to keep up with the Bengals’ offense on the road to playing against the Broncos at home, but I don’t know how you get to a point where you feel comfortable scoring a touchdown with them.
The Broncos have won their last two games (including a win over the Chiefs) and are coming off a bye. I don’t think they’re suddenly a playoff contender, but they’re far from being one of the worst teams in the NFL (as they looked in the first month of the year). The Bills’ injuries on defense continue to play a big role. I think the Bills can find moderate success offensively through the air, but there are just too many problems with this team right now to support them against the spread. I’m taking a Broncos team that seems to be figuring things out a bit.
