Downey Ridge Environmental Company, developer of Greasezilla® fats, oils and greases (FOG) and used cooking oil (UCO) separation and processing systems, is working with LEND Environmental to accelerate the recycling of UCO and grease trap waste in Southern California.
The companies will build additional sites to separate the waste streams into water, dough and oils to recover valuable organics for reuse as clean energy.
In addition, the facilities will contribute to California’s environmental goals by removing waste from public water infrastructure, reducing landfill, generating renewable energy and recycling wastewater.
The system, which is expected to be online shortly, will double LEND Environmental’s grease recycling capacity and expand Greasezilla’s presence in the region.
The companies plan to announce additional systems in California in the coming months, in addition to many new locations nationwide.
“Los Angeles County generates a tremendous amount of waste oil and grease,” said Louis Downey, owner of LEND Environmental.
“With Greasezilla, we can separate and recover trapped low-carbon biofuels from waste oils while using a small percentage of the fuel produced in the process – a pure example of circular economy at the plant. We see tremendous growth potential and are excited to be working with Greasezilla to expand our recycling operations in the region.”
Widely known for its ecological FOG separation process, Greasezilla separates water and dough from commercial grease separator waste to produce a high-quality, low-moisture Brown Grease Advanced Biofuel.
