Life Insurance Corporation’s much-anticipated IPO finally opens on May 4th. But much like the initial euphoria, his size seems to have shrunk as well. Its current valuation is now Rs 6 crore, less than half of the expected value of around Rs 13 crore. Three years ago, the government faced a backlash for understating the IRCTC IPO. So is the government underestimating another state behemoth? Or did it take that call after due diligence? LIC’s IPO could well attract a new wave of investors to the markets. A similar thing had happened to OTT platforms during lockdown as people of all ages turned to them. In 2020, Netflix had added 36 million subscribers.
But the streaming giant saw its subscriber base shrink by 200,000 in the January-March quarter. And it was forecast to lose another 2 million subscribers in the current quarter.
