June 25 (Reuters) – Moscow’s stock exchange, banks and financial institutions are expected to continue operating as usual on Monday, Russia’s central bank said on Sunday, despite Moscow’s mayor declaring it a non-working day when mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin led Wagner urges towards Moscow.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin had asked people on Saturday to refrain from driving through the city because of an anti-terrorist operation.
The mutiny was later cut short by a deal that saved Prigozhin and his mercenaries from criminal charges. The deal also resulted in Prigozhin being exiled to Belarus.
Moscow remains incapacitated even after the mutiny has been broken off.
“On June 26, trading and settlement on all markets of the Moscow Stock Exchange will be conducted as usual, including all trading periods and instruments,” the Moscow Stock Exchange (MOEX.MM) said in a statement.
SPB Exchange, Russia’s second largest stock exchange, said it would also operate as usual.
The central bank said banks should ensure the continuous and smooth functioning of Russia’s financial markets.
