The Bucharest Stock Exchange included Hidroelectrica in its market indexes immediately after the IPO
The shares of the Romanian hydropower group Hidroelectrica will be included in the market indices of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) immediately after their listing and availability for trading, the BVB decided on May 12 at the extraordinary meeting of the index committee.
Hidroelectrica replaces the company with the weakest position in relation to the relevant selection criteria for each individual index if the index has a fixed number of constituents. (ie BET, BET-TR, BET-TRN, BET-XT, BET-XT-TR, BET-XT-TRN and BET-BK).
The listing of Hidroelectrica’s shares following Fondul Proprietatea’s announcement to sell its 20 percent stake sets the stage for the largest-ever IPO on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
The company’s stock exchange listing offers an opportunity to promote the capital market on a large scale among institutional and retail investors in Romania, while offering the possibility for the local capital market to be classified as an emerging market by MSCI as well as a major global index provider, thereby increasing Romania’s visibility among international investors is increased.
In 2020, Romania was promoted to secondary emerging market status by FTSE Russell.
