The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ competitive window appeared to be over after Tom Brady announced his retirement — until he announced his return just 40 days later. Can the 44-year-old bring the Bucs back to the promised land? Here are our Buccaneers 2022 odds, tips and preview.

It’s been a busy offseason for Bucs’ GM Jason Licht and the rest of the team. Following Chris Godwin’s injury news, Tampa Bay added two former Atlanta Falcons wide receivers in Russell Gage and Julio Jones.

The return of Tom Brady lessened their need for a new quarterback, but Rob Gronkowski’s retirement has paved a path for veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph at game time. The Bucs’ roster looks as strong as ever and a post-season birth is likely.

Below, we preview the 2022 NFL season for the Buccaneers, taking a look at the team’s futures markets and making our top picks (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, and Caesars Sportsbook).

To win the Super Bowl (+750)

History has shown that betting against Tom Brady often doesn’t go well. The five-time Super Bowl MVP will be 45 when the 2022 season begins, but he’s still as good as he’s ever been. The biggest competition he has would be the Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers from the AFC if they make it to the Super Bowl. The Bucs have an incredibly extensive roster, arguably on par with the Bills, Chiefs and Chargers.

Regardless, Brady has consistently demonstrated that his teams are often matchup-proof. Betting Tampa Bay to win it all at +750 odds seems like a smart bet.

Over 11.5 wins (+105)

Last season ended in disappointment for the Buccaneers. They missed just one field goal to reach the NFC Championship after a 13-win regular season. That being said, their off-season additions like Kyle Rudolph, Julio Jones and Russell Gage have only made them stronger.

The NFC South won’t be overly strong, but the Bucs still have a somewhat difficult schedule, including games against the Chiefs, Bengals, Rams and Ravens. Betting on the over still appears to be the stronger game given Tampa Bay’s potential to win every game regardless of opponent and their potential to create wins within the division.

To make the playoffs (-650)

It was a long 12 seasons at Tampa Bay between 2008 and 2019. The team missed the playoffs every year and finished the entire stretch just once above third place in its division. Those days are over, however, and their chances of both winning their division and making the playoffs are very good.

The only possibility they could potentially miss would be if Tom Brady’s game finally hits a wall, but that seems unlikely despite his age.

Despite the juice involved, this bet seems far from a sure bet.

Brady Over 4520.5 Passing Yards (-112)

This market is a bit difficult to navigate. On one hand, Brady threw for 5,316 yards last season, which is a total well above the current line. On the other hand, Brady has thrown for more than 4,520 passing yards in one season five times in the past ten seasons. This line seems very sharp.

One thing that works in Tom’s favor, however, is the extra game added to every NFL team’s schedule last season. Tampa Bay’s offense will also likely be pass-heavy, meaning Brady will have plenty of opportunities to throw the ball.

Taking over seems to be the safer choice.
