Clevta’s Best Super Bowl Bet: Chiefs +1.5 over Eagles (-110)

It may be a narrow-minded view of this game, but KC is 16-3 (playoffs included) and his 3 losses totaled 10 points. The Chiefs haven’t lost more than 4 points all season. If your goal is to take the safest path in this game, backing a team like KC and a QB like Patrick Mahomes isn’t a bad choice.

It’s really difficult to fully evaluate this Eagles team — and their defense in particular — based on how they play the easiest schedule in the NFL. There’s no doubt that the Eagles’ defense is talented, with the second best pressure rate defense in the NFL and two top-notch CBs in Darius Slay and James Bradberry, but are they really the best pass defense in the NFL? Probably not. Philly’s weakness on defense is definitely LB Corps, and I don’t see it slowing down Travis Kelce in midfield.

Jared Smith’s Super Bowl Best Bet: Patrick Mahomes Wins Super Bowl MVP (+130)

This is essentially a bet on Chief’s moneyline as I don’t see a scenario where Kansas City wins the game and Mahomes doesn’t win MVP. Considering the moneyline price is well below +130, this is an easy decision. I believe the Eagles offense will start slowly like most Super Bowls do. In fact, the last 15 games in the first quarter have only averaged 8.6 points, with the last 3 games finishing on 10 exactly.

Jalen Hurts’ efficiency drops significantly this season when the Eagles’ winning probability is 50% or less, painting the picture of a QB who needs a positive game script to be successful. It hasn’t mattered the last 2 weeks as the Eagles have been sprinting out to fast starts and not getting into pressure situations at crunch time. I don’t see that here, and I would pay close attention to how Hurts handles himself in the clutch moments.

For this bet to work, the Chiefs need to win the game, which also requires a valiant effort from their defense and a flawless game plan from Steve Spagnuolo, who will be coaching in his 4th Super Bowl. San Francisco made the mistake of lining up both defensive tackles in a wide-9 technique, leaving the A gap wide open for Philly to go through. I hope Spags learns from this and allows Chris Jones to anchor the A gap, plug the running game and force things out. Kansas City also creates pressure at a top-five rate, and the front 7 need to be extra feisty against a strong Philly offensive line.

Prop Holliday’s Super Bowl best bet: Isiah Pacheco longest rush over 13.5 yards (-105)

There’s a lot to like about Pacheco in this upcoming game, but I landed on his longest rush prop. He’s hit this in 5 of the last 10, but most of all he’s getting an ideal matchup. The Eagles have conceded this 12 times and 5 straight games all season. We’ve seen Christian McCaffrey break away in the NFC Championship with the entire defense expecting him to carry the ball. Against Kansas City, Mahomes prevents any defense from stacking the box. Pacheco is off his second-highest snap percentage of the season, proving that Reid isn’t afraid to use him when it counts. This is my favorite game of the entire Super Bowl.

Andrew Ortenberg’s Best Super Bowl Bet: Over 50.5 (-110)

I like the over in the Super Bowl for several reasons. For starters, Patrick Mahomes’ ankle should be pretty close to 100% by Sunday. And even with a butt on his ankle, he’s managed to move the ball pretty well against the Jaguars and Bengals the past few games. This Eagles defense is overrated simply because it hasn’t been tested at all lately. Her two playoff games en route to the Super Bowl were against the Giants’ Daniel Jones and then a combination of Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson for San Francisco. Her last two regular season games were against Davis Webb and Andy Dalton. The last time they faced a competent offense, they gave up 40 points to the Cowboys.

The only other decent quarterback the Eagles have faced in recent months besides Dak Prescott has been Aaron Rodgers, and they let the Packers score 33 points against them. Almost every time the Eagles have played a decent pass attack this season, the game has turned into a shootout, such as when they totaled 73 points in their matchup against the Lions.

The Eagles have scored at least 31 goals in each of their playoff games, and they have totaled at least 31 goals in 6 of their last 9. This will be Mahomes’ third Super Bowl and he’s played in countless big games in his young career so he should feel comfortable and in control right from the start. Kansas City has not scored fewer than 23 points in a game since Nov. 6. I confidently take the helm in this game.
