Stripe Has Hired JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs As It Considers An IPO Or Private Markets Transaction In The Next 12 Months : WSJ

Stripe Inc., the payments processor that is one of Silicon Valley’s most valuable startups, has hired JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs to either take the company public or allow employees to sell shares in a private markets deal, the report said Wall Street Journal on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter. The company, founded by brothers Patrick and John Collison of Tipperary, Ireland, was valued at $95 billion in its most recent funding round two years ago and provides payments for companies like Shopify SHOP, +0.45% and InstaCart on. The founders told employees Thursday that executives had set a one-year timeframe to make a decision, the newspaper reported. A deal of this magnitude is expected to help revitalize the ailing IPO market. The Renaissance IPO ETF IPO, +0.91%, is down 36% over the past 12 months, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.48%, is down 8%.
