Hong Kong stocks led losses as Asia-Pacific stocks fell as the Bank of Japan left its benchmark interest rate unchanged.
That Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong slipped 2.95%, while the Hang Seng Tech Index fell 4.62%. In Australia it is S&P/ASX200 fell 0.87%.
That Nike 225 in Japan, it fell 0.72%, while the Topix declined 0.15%. The Japanese yen maintained the 146 level after the Bank of Japan kept interest rates at ultra-low levels as expected.
South Korea kospi was 0.57% lower. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia Pacific stocks outside of Japan fell 1.4%.
In mainland China, the Shanghai composition was 1.27% lower and the Shenzhen component 2.45% lost.
Some Hong Kong-listed Chinese airlines are set to report profits along with electric vehicle maker BYD. South Korea’s LG Electronics is also expected to report earnings.
In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 194.17 points, or 0.6%, overnight to end at 32,033.28 in its fifth straight positive session. The S&P 500 closed 0.6% lower at 3,807.30 and the Nasdaq Composite was down 1.6% at 10,792.68.
