Asian stocks were cheered early Thursday as authorities clamped down on a stronger dollar. The yen and won rose against the greenback after U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, along with the finance ministers of Japan and South Korea, expressed “serious concerns” about the devaluation of the two Asian currencies. Japan's top monetary official Masato Kanda also announced a reaffirmation of existing monetary commitments by G-7 finance ministers.
