Awesome buddy
Ahead of Softbank-owned Arm (ARMHF)’s IPO this year, the British chip designer is in talks to include Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) as a potential anchor investor, the Financial Times reported, citing several insiders.
Arm (ARMHF) is under discussion with at least ten companies about participating in its IPO, including Intel (INTC), alphabet (GOOG), Apple (AAPL),Microsoft (MSFT), Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) and Samsung (OTCPK:SSNLF).
Arm (ARMHF)’s valuation is still being debated among potential investors. Nvidia (NVDA) is likely to participate in the IPO if the offering price puts Arm’s (ARMHF) total value at $35-$40 billion, while Arm is targeting a valuation closer to $80 billion.
Discussions with Nvidia (NVDA) are ongoing and may not result in an investment, the FT report said.
The development comes more than a year after Nvidia (NVDA)’s proposed acquisition of Arm (ARMHF), what would have been the chip sector’s largest transaction to date, was terminated due to regulatory challenges.
SoftBank (OTCPK:SFTBY) is looking to raise up to $10 billion in the Arm (ARMHF) IPO, which would make it the largest U.S. IPO since Rivian. The Japanese conglomerate could start the IPO as early as September.
Arm (ARMHF) declined to comment on the matter, while Nvidia (NVDA) did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
