Shein is planning an IPO in London while plans for New York are stalled

Hunt is said to have met with Tang this month to persuade the China-founded, Singapore-based retailer to list on the London Stock Exchange.

The pair have had “productive” discussions about an IPO in London, Sky News reported.

According to Bloomberg, Shein is reportedly worried that his application to list in the US could be rejected by the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

The publication added that the retailer is still working on its application for approval in the US and would have to file a new application for approval abroad with Chinese regulators if it decided to move to London or elsewhere. Other potential locations for a listing include Hong Kong and Singapore.

It was first revealed in December that Shein had been in discussions with the London Stock Exchange about the possibility of listing in the UK as it continues to explore various options for raising capital.

Shein has been contacted for comment.
