The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee will host a meeting on Oct. 13 focused on entrepreneurship hubs and the initial public offering (IPO) market.

The SEC Small Business Advocate Act of 2016 established the 19-member body to provide the SEC with a formal mechanism to receive advice and recommendations on governmental rules, regulations and policy matters relating to small businesses.
The morning session of the meeting is set to examine nationwide best practices for promoting start-up creation and growth, according to the meeting agenda, with the committee receiving input from experts and discussing factors that contribute to the effective functioning of entrepreneurial communities, while methods to support of small business growth nationwide .
In the afternoon session, the committee is expected to examine how economic conditions, recent changes in IPO activity and other factors could potentially affect companies’ IPOs.
The discussion will include the state of affairs in the IPO market over the last year, a tighter investment environment and numerous recent SEC rulemakings as per the agenda, while practitioner experts will share market data and insights and discuss the various ways the public are affected.
