Russian stocks: Gold mining to vodka drive IPO recovery in isolated Moscow market

Russian private investors have raised Moscow’s benchmark index to levels last seen before the country invaded Ukraine. Their money is now attracting dozens of companies to sell shares on the stock exchange.

Half a dozen companies in industries from information technology to clothing have sold more than 12.4 billion rubles ($130 million) worth of shares in primary and secondary offerings this year, after just one successful initial public offering, according to data compiled by Bloomberg in the past year. With about eight times as much cash in their accounts as funds, retail investors have dominated sales this year.
