Posted at 8:37 – Corn Corn is down 1 cent and Corn Soybeans are down 5 1/4 cents. May KC wheat is up 9 1/2 cents and May Minneapolis wheat is up 6 3/4 cents. April crude oil is down $0.18 and Dow Jones futures are down 129 points. The US Dollar Index is up 0.56 and Gold is down $18.80 in April. In quiet post-holiday trading, corn is flat, while beans and soybean meal are lower, and wheat is showing independent strength, fueled by bad weather in the Plains and weekend talks about Russia’s possible reluctance to extend the safe-trade deal Black Sea export corridor.

Crude oil in April is up $0.20 and Dow Jones futures are up 49 points. The US Dollar Index is down 0.06 and Gold is down $6.80 in April. Last week’s grain and soybean markets ended weak, with the exception of Kansas City wheat. A warm-up with mostly dry weather in the coming week should allow seeding to begin. South American weather hasn’t changed, but wheat is firmer on some rumors that Russia may refuse to extend the Black Sea Grains Agreement and the CFTC report showing the funds still have a big position on Chicago wheat are scarce.

Posted 11:47 — Live cattle in June are up $0.30 to $163.4, feed cattle in May are down $0.25 to $205.15, lean hogs in June are up $1.45 Up $89.625, Corn is up 6 1/2 cents a bushel and May Soybean Meal is down $3.10. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 47.75 points. Livestock contracts are trading higher as traders appear poised to add more contracts on Friday’s strong performance. Forage cattle contracts could derail as corn prices trend higher Monday morning, but at this point they appear unfazed.

Posted at 8:37am – Live cattle in June are up $0.03 to $163.125, feed cattle in May are down $0.13 to $205.275, lean hogs in June are down $0.03 to 88.2 $up, Corn is down 1/4 cent a bushel and May Soybean Meal is down $3.80. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 131.05 points. The cattle market trades mixed again as live cattle contracts are the only market to storm with enthusiasm into the Monday dawn. After last week’s hasty rally in the cash cattle market, traders are excited to see what the market will achieve this week. It’s important to note how last week’s cash cattle were committed because the fewer cattle committed for the delayed delivery the better.
