March KC is up 4 3/4 cents per bushel, March Chicago wheat is down 2 1/4 cents per bushel and March Minneapolis wheat is up 6 1/2 cents. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 16.60 points to 37,283.27, the US dollar index rose 0.010 to 103.46 and crude oil rose $1.06 a barrel to $73.62 in February. In the morning, corn recovered and wheat and soybeans remained almost unchanged in very quiet trading. Previously, March corn, March KC and Minneapolis wheat hit new contract lows.

In March, KC wheat was down 5 3/4 cents per bushel, in March, Chicago wheat was down 7 1/2 cents per bushel, and in March, Minneapolis wheat was up 3/4 cent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 59.08 points to 37,207.59, the US dollar index rose 0.010 to 103.46 and crude oil rose $0.48 a barrel to $73.04 in February. All grain and soy markets are lower to start with the exception of soybeans, with Chicago wheat leading the decline. There is very little new news to drive markets early Thursday.
Posted at 11:36 a.m. – February live cattle are up $1.53 to $174,625, March feeder cattle are up $2.90 to $232,675, February lean hogs are up $0.35 to $71.1 decreased, March corn increased 2 cents per bushel and March soybean meal decreased $0.60. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 84.63 points. In parts of the north, there are few bids on the table at midday at $273 to $275. The rest of the cattle country remains very quiet. Beef cuts are mixed at noon (selection 296.9 -1.54, selection 283.25 +0.23) with light to moderate box agitation (47 lds selected cuts, 07 lds selected cuts, 04 lds trim and 09 lds ground), with a Selection/selection margin of 13.66. 122,000 cattle are expected to be slaughtered on Thursday. Lunch pork cuts are 89.81, +1.85, with a total load of 188.14. 485,000 pigs are expected to be slaughtered on Thursday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 95.08 points. All is quiet in the cash catering area this morning and deals are hard to find. Asking prices in the south are around $174 to $175, with asking prices in the north yet to be fully determined. The forecast CME Lean Hog Index for January 16, 2024 increased $0.49 to $67.34.
