Global Finance selects the world’s best banks 2022
Global Finance has announced its 29th annual awards for the best banks in the world. A full report on the selection will appear in the May print and digital issues of Global Finance and online at GFMag.com.
Winners were selected in more than 150 countries and territories in Africa, Asia Pacific, the Caribbean, Central America, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, North America and Western Europe. The May report also includes picks for top US regional banks, top Islamic financial institutions and top world banks by region. Given the existing situation in Ukraine, Global Finance has decided not to award Best Bank awards in countries directly involved in the current conflict.
“With the financial world in turmoil from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, business leaders face new challenges in choosing their banking relationships,” said Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher and editorial director of Global Finance. “Following the tremendous difficulties caused by the pandemic, these changes require increased attention to global trade relations. Our awards support decision makers in selecting the best financial partners.”
The overall best bank in the world will be announced in the summer and released in October, along with the best global banks in more than a dozen key categories. The winners of this year’s awards are those banks that have diligently listened to their customers’ needs in challenging markets and delivered strong results while laying the foundation for future success.
All selections have been made by Global Finance editors after extensive consultation with corporate finance managers, bankers and bank advisers, and analysts from around the world. In selecting these top banks, Global Finance considered factors ranging from quantitative targets to informed subjectivities.
Banks were invited to submit entries to support their selection. Objective criteria considered included: asset growth, profitability, geographic reach, strategic relationships, new business development and product innovation. The subjective criteria included the opinions of equity analysts, credit rating analysts, bank advisors and others working in the industry.
Winners will be honored at an awards ceremony during the IMF/World Bank Annual Meeting in Washington, DC at the National Press Club on the morning of October 15, 2022.
