Perfios reports FY23 profit, plans IPO within two years By Investing.com

Perfios, an Indian fintech SaaS startup, has turned the corner and reported a consolidated net profit of ₹7.8 crore for the financial year 2023 (FY23), a significant improvement over the net loss of ₹16.8 crore in the previous fiscal. The company’s operating revenue registered a significant increase in FY23, nearly tripling to ₹406.8 crore, driven by robust growth in domestic business and service revenue.

The Bangalore-based company, founded in 2008 by VR Govindarajan and Debasish Chakraborty, attributes its impressive revenue growth to a 211% year-on-year increase in its India operations, which brought in ₹382 crore. Service revenue also witnessed an exponential increase, rising more than 28 times to ₹166.5 Crore compared to the previous year. These figures underscore Perfios’ growing presence in the financial technology sector, where the company provides services such as customer onboarding, underwriting and efficient monitoring to banking, financial services and insurance customers in 18 countries.

Perfios processes a staggering 1.7 billion transactions annually and manages a total of $36 billion in assets under management (AUM). The company’s software support for loan processing alone brought in around ₹198.5 crore, up 90% year-on-year. However, this rapid expansion came at a cost: total costs more than doubled to ₹386.4 crore in FY23. Personnel costs were the largest expense category, accounting for over 55% of total expenses. Legal fees also rose 80% to ₹41.1 crore.

Despite these higher costs, Perfios was able to maintain operational efficiency and achieve profitability in FY23. This is partly due to strategic moves such as the acquisition of Karza Technologies, which contributed Rs 168 crore to revenue and played a key role in the company’s profits this fiscal.

To further strengthen its financial position and future prospects, Perfios recently closed a $229 million Series D financing round led by Kedaara Capital. The company also made headlines for its ₹154 crore Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which created 62 millionaires among its employees.

Looking ahead, Perfios is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) within the next 18 to 24 months. As part of its growth strategy and public markets readiness, the company has strengthened its leadership team by appointing Sumit Nigam as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Anu Mathew as Chief Product Officer (CPO).

With over 1,000 financial institutions worldwide relying on Perfios’ services and processing 8.2 billion data points annually to make customer decisions faster, the company is positioning itself as a significant player in the global fintech landscape.
